Standing Meditation

A lot people typically think sitting cross legged is the only way to meditation but as I’ve mentioned in previous posts there are several way’s to meditate. One way is by simply standing.

As with the sitting meditation be mindful about your posture. Make sure your back is straight. Ground both feet as you are completely connected with the earth. Palm’s resting gently at your side ideally open to receive  the energy around you. you may choose to close your eyes or keep them open, however if you keep them open be sure to choose fine a focus point.

Now simply focus on your breathing, feel the air against your skin or open your ears to the sounds around you. Whatever you choose to bring your attention to be sure to be mindful if a thought comes simply recognize it for what it is then pull your attention back.

A standing meditation can literally be done anytime and anywhere. It is a great way to find a moment of stillness and check in with yourself. We live in a world we are constantly going so sometimes we have to take the time to check in with minds, body’s and souls.
