My Miracle Life (Poem)

Remembering like it was yesterday
Waking up wanting to leave
I felt fine but little did I know some time had passed me by
I was in a coma, you know that state where the physical body is dead but some state of consciousness still exist.
I know somewhere I could hear my family saying prayers
Other wise I wouldn’t have survived
From there being told I may never be able to walk or talk
Feeding tube in place
Even having my dream come true wish
It was as if I wasn’t going to live long
Fast forward to little old me in braces mumbling my words
It speaks, the doctors must have thought
After some more time I’m using a walker and more words come out
Oh snap. speech and physical therapy turns me into a fully functional human
But wait, something is still wrong, this thing in my stomach is still feeding me?
I’m 24 now I say fuck that shit I’ll eat by mouth thank you
Fifteen years later I have risen above everything
From coma to providing daily words of wisdom
This voice is strong
From being in a wheelchair to soon to be yoga instructor
These legs are flexible
From the feeding tube to figuring out how to self heal
I’m a living miracle
