Frequently asked questions about mediation


Since I started this business, I have had so many questions about mindfulness and mediation that I thought I would answer some of the most common questions.


Q. Noise makes it almost impossible for me to meditate what do I do? A. When we begin are meditation practice it's important to fine a quiet place if possible. You can also use a pair of headphones to play some relaxing music. You could go outside in a forest or park, being in nature is great for a meditation practice. For more advanced meditators you could also try using the sound around you as part of your practice. Not recommended if you are just starting out.


Q. Don't I have to be spiritual or religious to meditate? A. No. Although many religions and spiritual people have meditation practices, you don't have to be spiritual or religious to meditate, Meditation is proven to have many benefits such as lower blood pressure, improve cardiovascular health, and help with anxiety and depression.


Q. What is the best posture for mediation? A. Whatever is most comfortable for you. You want to make sure it's a posture that's going to keep you alert and present. Make sure your spine is straight. Avoid lying down if you are mediating before bed, it's a invitation to fall asleep.


Q. How do I know when to end my meditation practice? It's important to set a alarm set, something calming. If you are starting out, I would suggest starting at five minutes, then working your way up. There is no time limit, whatever is feels rights to you.


Q. When is the best time meditate? A. There is no right time mediate. The right time is based on your needs and schedule. If your feeling stressed during the day maybe that's best for you or prehab's you have a hard time sleeping in which nighttime would be best for you. Certain meditation techniques are also beneficial at certain times. Body scan is best at night, where a movement meditation would be best done in the morning or during the day.
